Renwick orders Park to tend to all the men Friedman attacked. He tries to attack Renwick, but Riley shoots Friedman in the head. During a makeshift funeral for Friedman, Friedman returns from the dead to bite Cook, Bacon, and Park. Everyone starts worrying about family back home, and it’s brought up that Riley never even got to see his newborn son before this mission.

He is able to make out a radio broadcast that said the Army had been deployed to help with “medical incidents”. Pierce receives a blank message from command after weeks of silence. Everyone is questioning why they couldn’t get a reply on the radio. Captain Renwick questions if Riley can focus on his job, being a new dad when Bacon comes in and says Friedman needs to be flown to a hospital to remove his appendix, which has bursts and needs to be removed now! Pierce can’t get a reply on the radio and Park preps to do the surgery in the mess hall. Pierce informs Riley that the radio has been unusually quiet all day. He and his crew both begin to question why they are even performing nuclear launching training so close to home.
